wow. gosh. thank you for that.

it inspires me to write some about my dad — something i promised to do the day i was remembering his death so vividly, the 10th anniversary last month.

i wish i could be around when taido shares some of those intimate things about his past, but of course i am not meant to see it — only you and your children are privileged to share those particular pieces of his life.

The French for some reason(forgot what my French teacher said about it) do not pronounce the last syllable of any word, so Savate which English speakers like us would normally pronounce as "Sa-va-te" like Karate is actually pronounced as "Sa-Vat" in French.

I believe you're thinking of the group called U.N.V., or United Nubian Voices. I wasn't able to find the song "Chocolate Tai" but if you search U.N.V. on Yahoo Music you can find their albums and songs listed there.

I think your sentence right now has some grammar errors but I think you're saying, "In England, while people say "go! Try your best!", when they watch the olympics."
ganbatte is a good word for cheering, so go with that.
If I understand what you're trying to say, here's the sentence:

    にほんでは、オリンピックを見ながら 「がんばって!」と言います。

I put "dewa" after Japan because that's the particle for "in/at" when addressing the subject of the sentence.
Also, I put the "watching the olympics" before "saying go!" because you are saying WHILE watching. the "-nagara" goes with the verb to watch 見る.
    Okay. Hope I helped.

Back to boxing and the topic. ^_^
I just want to point out the recently retired ODLH as example of not liking a boxer and yet not a racist.
American and Mexican-American boxing fans loved Oscar Dela Hoya. Many Mexican fans don't like Oscar and his boxing style. Can anyone say that Mexican fans who don't like the boxing style of Oscar are racists?
