Aikido 20 photo" />

Imagine walking home late at night when suddenly a group of people come out of nowhere and begin to surround you. The individual can cry out for help in the hopes that the locals will offer assistance or <nofollow>just give the</nofollow> money and hope that the hoodlums will leave after that.

But what if these people want more just <nofollow>than the</nofollow> money in the bag? The use of pepper spray or mace can probably knock two of the <nofollow>individuals out but</nofollow> something better is needed for proper defense. A good example is learning a martial art and if the person does not want to inflict that much damage, then aikido is the way to go.

What is aikido? This is a Japanese martial art just like Judo or Karate that uses primarily the arms to block offensive moves and <nofollow>then redirect it</nofollow> back with the same force to the opponent.

It is like catching a ball with one hand and <nofollow>then returning it</nofollow> back to another player. The moves are very fast which will surely amaze anyone who has seen <nofollow>one of</nofollow> Steven Segal’s action movies.

Aikido unlike other martial arts has been around since the 1930’s. As more students learned from the man who invented it, a number of dojo’s both in Japan and in other parts of the world were formed. This has also led to the development of different techniques in Aikido such as Aikikai, Yoshinkan and <nofollow>Yoseikan. </nofollow>

Practicing with a sparring partner and doing drills in the dojo is nothing compared to actual combat. This is the <nofollow>reason that the</nofollow> best way to stay in shape is to participate in a competition better known as Tomiki Aikido.

Aikido <nofollow>unlike other martial</nofollow> arts has not yet taken center stage in the Olympics. However, there are regular competitions organized by <nofollow>university clubs and</nofollow> local dojos in the community.

The competition just like in Karate, Tae Kwan Do or Judo is between two people. The player who successfully strikes the other opponent gets earns a point.

Aikido is a martial art that can <nofollow>be learned</nofollow> by almost anyone regardless of gender or age. All the person has to do is signup in <nofollow>a dojo,</nofollow> learn the basics and then practice regularly to develop better skills.

The individual may not get it right <nofollow>the first time</nofollow> or fall more often than others but everyone had to undergo the same thing in order to <nofollow>become a</nofollow> better fighter.

When the person is ready, it wouldn’t hurt to participate in Tomiki Aikido, which is held <nofollow>monthly in different</nofollow> states. The person should just see if there is anything on the bulletin board or online since <nofollow>certain clubs also</nofollow> announce such events on the web.

Aikido is primarily for defensive purposes. There are no sharp offensive punches <nofollow>or kicks normally</nofollow> associated with other martial arts. It can prepare anyone both physically and mentally to respond to various <nofollow>situations. </nofollow>

Tags:force, judo, ski, dojo, from, combat, tai, energy, kick, club, anything, practice, opponent, float, first

What are Parachutes?. The thrill of free falling <nofollow>in the</nofollow> sky and landing softly on the ground is an undeniably adrenaline pumping experience. The most important thing <noindex>about this</noindex> sport is the parachute. Kids can make homemade parachutes with the right materials.

Having a real one is a totally <noindex><nofollow>different story. parachutes have</nofollow></noindex> a long history and development. Thanks to several daredevils it is now much safer to use compared <nofollow>before. </nofollow>

Parachutes have been made of different materials through out its development. There are also different types of parachutes that have been <noindex>used throughout history.</noindex> Before you think of going for skydiving lessons you have to know what parachutes are to ensure your safety. <nofollow>If your parachute</nofollow> does not deploy the way it should, it will fatal for you.

 Parachutes

The word parachute means against the <noindex><nofollow>fall. It</nofollow></noindex> is designed to slow the motion of an object. Normally it used by people to slow down <noindex>their descent</noindex> to earth or to other celestial bodies. It can also be used to slow down the descent <noindex><nofollow>of objects</nofollow></noindex> to the atmosphere.

They can slow down not just vertical but also horizontal deceleration. Drogue parachutes are used to slow <noindex>down fixed wing</noindex> aircrafts and drag racers.

They are have been made of different materials through the years. The very first <noindex><nofollow>one was made</nofollow></noindex> of a cloak with wooden struts. The parachute was conical shaped the same with Leonardo da Vinci’s <noindex>sketches. Rigid parasol</noindex> was used in China for entertainment. Modern designs are made of nylon that has "rip stop" and <nofollow>"Zero porosity"</nofollow> technology. Rip stop gives it a weave pattern which prevents it from tearing and ripping apart when <noindex>used. The</noindex> zero porosity technology prevents the air from passing through the fabric.

The first modern design was invented by <noindex>Louis-Sébastien Lenormand in</noindex> 1783. At that time it was thought to be used as a means for getting off a <nofollow>hot air</nofollow> balloon. It was then used for military purposes in the 19th century. It was used by artillery <noindex><nofollow>spotters in</nofollow></noindex> World War 1 that were secured to observation balloons. In World War II they were used for <nofollow>surprise attacks by</nofollow> landing soldiers on the enemy line.

First modern designs where round and usually used by paratroopers when they <noindex><nofollow>are deployed</nofollow></noindex> by an aircraft. These are usually drag devices which means they are not maneuverable and provide no <noindex>lift. These were</noindex> replaced by square ones through the Advance Tactical Parachute System.

Another variation of the round parachutes is the annular and <noindex>

Recent visits to the site (search terms):

parachute designs for kids (39)

parachute design for kids (10)

homemade parachute for kids (6)

slow falling parachute design (4)

design a slow falling parachute (3)

toy ram- air parachute (3)

parachuting for kids (3)

parachute designs (3)

best meterial for homemade parachute (3)

sky diver parachute pattern (2)

what can you uses besides a parachute slow down (2)

how to create a parachute for kids pattern (2)

kid parachute design (2)

what has the parachute been made of and how is it used in modern times (2)

toy parachute pattern (2)

what is good material to make a parachute for a school project (2)

CHILDRENS SKY DIVING TOYS (2)

best slow falling homemade parachute (2)

skydiving equiment and parachutes for kids (1)

skydiving for kids (1)

square parachute patterns (1)

skydiving parachute designs (1)

square parachute pattern (1)

square parachute design (1)

slow falling parachute designs (1)

slow falling parachutes project (1)

sport parachute patterns (1)

toy parachute patterns (1)

what\s the best thing to make parachutes out of (1)

what shape parachute slows you down the best (1)

Tags:how tomake a parachute for children, what is good material to make a parachute for a school project, design a slow falling parachute, best meterial for homemade parachute, parachute design for kids, history of parachutes for children, Pyramid Parachute, kids science parachute, design, vert, extreme, Pack-style parachute, play parachute pattern, objects, Conical parachute

Powered Parachutes. However for some jumping out of a plane with only a parachute <noindex>to save your</noindex> life can be too risky. Although parachutes today are more stable and safer than they were decades before, fear <nofollow>of heights</nofollow> and faulty parachutes always haunt the mind and nerves of any first timer.

Wrong timing and faulty equipment can cause <noindex>you falling to</noindex> your death from thousands of feet in the air. Fortunately there are other options for those with <noindex><nofollow>faint of heart. </nofollow></noindex>

Fortunately powered parachutes were created. They provide a better and more controlled landing. This is a good alternative for those <noindex>who are</noindex> afraid of heights and don’t want to jump off a plane. Compared to skydiving they are far safer and <noindex>very easy to</noindex> learn.

 Powered parachutes

It’s a parachute equipped with motor and wheels. It can carry one or two passengers. It’s also <noindex>considered as the</noindex> most inexpensive motorized air vehicle. A new one person powered parachute costs about ten thousand dollars. A <noindex><nofollow>top notch two-seater</nofollow></noindex> on the other hand costs about fifteen to twenty thousand. A motor scooter can also be converted <nofollow>which costs</nofollow> around six thousand.

Its airspeed is twenty five to thirty five miles per hour (that’s forty to sixty <noindex>kilometers per hour)</noindex> and can fly of up to one thousand five hundred feet. It can also go as high <noindex><nofollow>as eighteen</nofollow></noindex> thousand feet. The world record for the lowest flight is 10 inches. Although skydivers across the globe are trying to land without one, this feat is not proven yet. There are many variants in parachute designs and sports.

Most enthusiasts know what they need including safety guides since they are trained. However newcomers and thrill seekers are not that aware. Before you decide to try an extreme sport you have to follow safety guides to prevent anything from going wrong.

Landing looks pretty easy for any veteran. However for a newcomer, it’s not as good option to be complacent. Selecting the right parachute will depend on what extreme sport you decide to pursue. Modern designs come in different variants and some are personalized.

Picking your parachute and buyer’s guide

The right will depend on what type of sport you embark on. The main difference lies on the canopy and the overall design of the parachute. If you plan on taking it easy you can start with skydiving or parasailing. Newcomers can enroll on skydiving clubs that will teach you the basics.

Parachutes used for skydiving are called Ram Air. They are equipped with parafoils that make them safe and easy to control. They also have two sheets that provide high pressure for better direction and stability. Parasailing on the other hand uses a parasail. It is a ParaCommander type of parachute which is a variation of the round parachute. It has suspension lines attached to the apex of the canopy.

Ribbon and ring parachutes are used in speed skydiving. They are made to deploy at supersonic speeds. The canopy is ring shaped and the ribbons spread under extreme pressure. The canopy has a large hole in the center to release pressure.

The most common type of design among newcomers is the Ram Air parachute. Ram air parachutes can either be rectangular or tapered. They are very stable and usually used for recreational skydiving and courses. Rectangular ram air parachutes are also used for BASE jumping, canopy formation and as reserves.

BASE jumping is extreme dangerous though because you have to jumped from fixed objects. BASE stands for building, antenna, span and earth. Antennas can be towers that are uninhabited, spans can be bridges or arches, earth are cliffs or other natural formations.

The size and shape of the canopy is also important because it affects the efficacy of the parachute. The size of the canopy depends upon its payload or passenger. You have to make sure the canopy has enough capacity for your body weight. Heavy weights need larger canopies and thicker lines or cords. The weight capacity can be founding the package. Make sure that your parachute will be able to support your descent.

Knowing all of this is enough. It’s better to take courses first before attempting to make a jump. Apart from having the right parachute you also have to make sure that they are packed right. If not the main canopy may not inflate or get tangled in the lines. If they inflate too quickly the lines may break and the canopy may tear.

Having fun is good as long as you know that you are on the safe side. Surviving a fall is rare even records prove that individuals were able to do so. Make sure you have done all the safety procedures and read all the guides.
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
Tags: Pyramid Parachute, Parasol type, Conical parachute, Pack-style parachute, Round parachutes, Square parachutes, Ram-air parachutes, Ribbon/Ring Parachute, Parachute skydiving, Parachute Games, Parachute Jump, Parachuting Sport, Sport Parachuting.

Recent visits to the site (search terms):

what size parachute do i need (50)

parachute size (14)

parachute sizes (13)

parachutes sizes (11)

what are the best dimensions for a parachute (8)

PARACHUTE DIMENSIONS (7)

what are some of the best dimensions for a parachute (6)

skydiving parachute sizes (6)

how big does a parachute need to be (5)

size of parachute (4)

parrachutes what size do i need (4)

how big are parachutes (3)

how big of a parachute do i need (3)

best skydiving canopy to learn on (3)

common sizes of parachutes (3)

what size parachute do ineed (3)

how big does your parachute have to be ? (Skydiving, Parachuting)." title="Parachuting Statistics on Accidents. (Skydiving, Parachuting). Parachuting 22 photo" />

Despite the lack of concrete parachuting statistics, misconceptions still surround both parachuting and skydiving. Many people believe that every year, there are <noindex>a lot of</noindex> individuals who die or get injured because of parachuting and they attribute a great number of reasons to these <noindex>wrong assumptions. </noindex>

There are only several reasons why parachuting accidents occur including malfunctioning equipment such as a canopy or a reserve canopy <nofollow>that did not</nofollow> open, collisions between jumpers, and difficulties during landing. Malfunctioning equipment is said to have claimed more lives <noindex>than the</noindex> other two major causes of accidents. However, operator error is the real culprit for most of the <nofollow>time. </nofollow>

For one, jumpers do not use just one canopy, instead they have a main canopy and second canopy which makes <nofollow>it almost</nofollow> impossible for jumpers to get injured because of malfunctioning equipment . Also, it is usually the problem <noindex><nofollow>of lines</nofollow></noindex> tangling rather than broken parachutes. On the other hand, difficulty in landing is usually contributed by factors <noindex>that are often</noindex> not subject to the control of the jumper.

Usually, accidents due to landing are attributed to poor estimation <noindex><nofollow>of how</nofollow></noindex> much longer jumpers have to take to perform maneuvers in the air. The third reason is largely <nofollow>due to</nofollow> jumpers deploying their parachutes so closely together.

It is easy for people to believe that novices are involved in more <nofollow>parachuting accidents than</nofollow> experts. But in reality, there are lesser chances that students will get injured or die during jumps. <nofollow>In fact,</nofollow> there are more expert jumpers who die each year in parachuting than students due to the fact that they <noindex><nofollow>tend to</nofollow></noindex> try higher altitudes which increase the risk of accidents.

According to studies, parachuting is considerably safer when compared with perceived <noindex>lesser risky sports</noindex> such as scuba diving or board surfing. In fact the average death due to parachuting is only 30 in <noindex><nofollow>every 100,000</nofollow></noindex> jumps while there is a higher rate of 47 deaths in every 1000,000 scuba diving exercises every <noindex><nofollow>year. There</nofollow></noindex> is a higher rate of death in mountain climbing totaling to 50 deaths in every 100,000 and <noindex><nofollow>67 lives</nofollow></noindex> are claimed every year because of hot air ballooning.

Interestingly history proved that parachuting accidents could be deterred even when <noindex>it seems most</noindex> impossible. There are so many accounts in the past, particularly in World War I and II, which <noindex>proved that</noindex> people jumped and met accidents while airborne and still managed to get through it with minor injuries. <noindex><nofollow>

Recent visits to the site (search terms):

facts about pyramid parachutes (1)

statistics of skydiving -filetype:pdf -filetype:ps Its purposes are not just escape devices. After <noindex><nofollow>the World War</nofollow></noindex> I and II more developments to its design lead it to be used for other purposes such <nofollow>as sports</nofollow> and recreation.

Parachutes are safer than they were decades ago, which garnered the interest of thrill seekers and <nofollow>extreme sport</nofollow> enthusiasts. Although the parachute is the main focus, other accessories such as the pants are also equally <noindex><nofollow>important. Parachute</nofollow></noindex> pants have also been associated with the 80′s.

The pants are used to go along with the parachute. <noindex><nofollow>Other designs include</nofollow></noindex> jumpsuits and wing suits. The design depends on its purposes. Companies make different prototypes that can be <noindex><nofollow>used in different</nofollow></noindex> kind of sports. They are also associated with the clothing trend during the 80′s and MC hammer.

Pants <noindex>for jumping and</noindex> breakdancing

Parachute pants are made of ripstop nylon. This type of fabric is water repellent and lightweight. They <noindex>have interweaving ripstop</noindex> threads that are reinforced in a crosshatch pattern. This enables the pants to resist ripping or tearing. <noindex>This type of</noindex> fabric was also used to replace silk that were originally used in making parachutes in World War II.

These pants <nofollow>can be custom</nofollow> made and are made to fit the wearer. Companies have their own sizing system and use the <nofollow>customer’s measurements to</nofollow> make one. Typically, they have standard features such as elasticized waistband, crocodile closing system, zip front fly <noindex>and Velcro knee</noindex> reinforcements. They can be matched with a top.

They also became popular in American culture in the 80′s <nofollow>because of</nofollow> breakdancing. Breakdancers used nylon to make their own trousers and jumpsuits. This enables them to do fast <noindex><nofollow>and intricate routines</nofollow></noindex> that they call "downrock" without tearing their pants. It also decreases the friction to be able to <noindex><nofollow>do speedy</nofollow></noindex> moves. The use of nylon and its large baggy cut resembled parachute pants. It was then later <noindex><nofollow>on labeled</nofollow></noindex> as parachute pants.

They gained more popularity when they were used by hip hop artists. This time they <noindex>were light</noindex> weight, loose fitted, and styled with excessive zippers, folds and pockets. The baggy cut and folds creates <nofollow>a visual effect</nofollow> which enhances the rhythm of the dancer’s moves. The pockets are not really usable and are merely <noindex><nofollow>used to</nofollow></noindex> add another zipper or another superficial feature to the pants. They are designed with bright colors, neon <nofollow>patterns, and</nofollow> Middle Eastern prints which are different from its predecessors made by breakdancers.

These pants went out of style <noindex><nofollow>in the</nofollow></noindex>

Recent visits to the site (search terms):

skydiving pants (2)

breakdancing parachute pants (2)

skydivers (1)

skydive trousers (1)

parachuting in parachute pants (1)

pants for parachuting (1)

making skydiving pants (1)

making parachute pants (1)

how to use pockets on parachute pants (1)

how to cut a parachute pants (1)

guiding a parachute (1)

breakdance parachute pants (1)

another name for parachute pants (1)

Tags:tim, people, hammer, world, dance, water, devices, pyramid, parachutes, cat, games, dancing, art, parachute, super

All About parachuting Sport . That is why it is considered as an extreme <nofollow>sport. While</nofollow> only a handful would actually try it, there are quite many enthusiasts who enjoy it just by <nofollow>watching skydiving shows</nofollow> and exhibitions. But exactly what does parachuting and skydiving entail? Where did it originate and why is <noindex><nofollow>it popular even</nofollow></noindex> up to this day?

Parachuting has been around far longer than we thought. It traces its roots back <nofollow>in 852 A.D.,</nofollow> when Arman Firman, wearing a large cloak, crashed and landed after jumping from a tower in Spain. <nofollow>Most did</nofollow> not consider this as the first parachute jump ever made, since he was only wearing a cloak. While many <nofollow>tried to</nofollow> do the first jump, the first recorded jump was in 1797, when Andre Jacques Garnerin used a silk chute <nofollow>after jumping off</nofollow> a hot-air balloon.

As airplanes have become more popular, so has the parachute. During World War II, it <nofollow>was used</nofollow> by soldiers and airplane pilots during emergencies and to transport supplies and equipment in war areas.

Since then parachutes are <nofollow>popularly used in</nofollow> shows and exhibitions. Skydivers jump out of an aircraft flying at an altitude of about 4000 meters. They free <noindex>fall for a</noindex> short period until a specific altitude when they activate the parachute and cause their speed to decelerate <noindex><nofollow>as they</nofollow></noindex> land. Cords are used to control direction and speed, so they are able to land at a <noindex>specific spot. </noindex>

Together with the rise of its popularity is the invention of its many designs, all to make the <noindex>parachute stronger and</noindex> safer to use. The key is to slow down the opening of the chute and minimize oscillations <noindex><nofollow>and sudden</nofollow></noindex> jerk that parachutists often feel during descend. To allow more control, holes and slots are added to <noindex><nofollow>the canopies. Also,</nofollow></noindex> with the many different uses come different designs as well. There are designs for high speed and <noindex>high altitudes,</noindex> cargo and sport jumping. Parafoils are also added to provide ease in "flying."

Usually, first-time skydivers are strapped <nofollow>together with</nofollow> a professional or experienced skydiver, who activates and controls the parachute. But after experiencing a few jumps <noindex>and mastering one’s</noindex> flying skills, you’ll have the courage to jump on your own until you are hooked with the sport.

The sport <noindex><nofollow>may seem</nofollow></noindex> dangerous, but surprisingly, there are lesser fatalities now. With innovations and safety measures adopted in the US <nofollow>and in</nofollow> most parts of the world, fewer deaths and accidents have occurred in the past years. Among the <nofollow>safety measures is</nofollow>

Recent visits to the site (search terms):

skydive dallas pyramid (1)

Tags:<a Aikido 15 photo" />

Aikido is one of the oldest and most widely-used martial arts forms in the world. It is being <nofollow>taught for</nofollow> centuries as a form of self-defense and protection. It is also a way for people to learn <nofollow>centeredness and</nofollow> balance in their lives.

Aikido is a martial arts form that requires constant practice and dedicated study for <nofollow>it does not</nofollow> only teach you self-defense, it also teaches you discipline. A good aikido training school is needed to <nofollow>achieve this. This</nofollow> is the reason why it is important for you to find a school that will not only <nofollow>teach you the</nofollow> basics but will also nurture your budding talent.

Here are some tips in choosing a good aikido school.

 Go <nofollow>for the</nofollow> recommended ones

Although all aikido training schools will be teaching the same set of tricks and techniques, there <nofollow>are schools that</nofollow> will give you better training. One way to look for good aikido schools is to ask around <nofollow>your neighborhood</nofollow> or among your friends and acquaintances. They are great sources because not only will they be able to provide you with names that are located in a place convenient to you, they will also be able to give you first hand information on the teaching method of the school.

In fact, they can even give you tips and advice on aikido training. Another way is to ask martial arts teachers. Even if they are not teaching aikido, they will know people who teach aikido and will be able to recommend good ones. There are also forums over the internet where you can post your questions. Members of the site or those that frequently read the forums will surely answer. Chances are they will know a good aikido school that is near your house. Forums like these are very effective because members are mostly aikido or martial arts buffs who know the business and will surely know <nofollow>what they are</nofollow> talking about.

Look for one that is near

In addition to the training, you will also need to find a school that is near your house or your place of work. Location is important in giving you the drive. Places that are far from your place will only result in frequent absenteeism, which is not good for your <nofollow>training. Another</nofollow> advantage that near locations provide is the fact that it gives you the chance to urge friends or family members to come with you and also be interested in the martial art form.

 Teacher and mentor

Before enrolling in a program, make sure that you got to meet and talk to the teacher. Although it may seem <nofollow>unimportant, it</nofollow> is vital to also be attuned and in harmony with the teacher of aikido as he or <nofollow>she will not</nofollow> only be teaching you aikido basics but also your mentor in your life.

 Scheduling

Getting a good schedule is another crucial point in getting a good aikido training. Look for schools that offer the schedule that you want. Remember <nofollow>that the time</nofollow>

Tags:attack, old, disc, learn, learning, tag, Martial Arts, those, sport, trick, tim, energy, arm, arts, techniques
